Itinerary: |

DAY 1: SAN FRANCISCO
Today will be the beginning of a scenic journey
along California’s amazing coast. What better
place to begin than San Francisco, “The City by
the Bay.” Upon arrival you will enjoy a tour of
this dynamic city including views of the Golden
Gate Bridge, Chinatown, the Twin Peaks, and Seal
Rocks. Later you may also wish to explore
Fisherman’s Wharf, shop in Union Square, or take
a cable car ride up and down San Francisco’s
angled streets. (D)
DAY 2: MUIR WOODS-SAUSALITO-SAN FRANCISCO
Today we will travel to Muir Woods National
Monument, one of the few remaining virgin
redwood forests. These coastal redwoods are
among the oldest and tallest trees in the world.
They can reach over 300 feet and live for more
than 1,000 years. Walk the quiet, shaded forest
paths of Muir Woods and learn about the
lifecycles of these magnificent trees. Next,
visit the quaint seaside town of Sausalito, a
popular choice for day-trippers. Browse art
galleries and craft shops for picture-perfect
souvenirs in Sausalito (one of California’s
early fishing villages). (B,L)
DAY 3: NAPA VALLEY
After breakfast we travel to beautiful Napa
Valley, the most famous winegrowing region in
the country, to experience the rich flavor of
this region. Spend the afternoon riding the Napa
Valley Wine Train in a splendidly restored 1915
Pullman Train car rolling through the
picturesque Napa Valley at an unhurried pace.
Blend this with superbly crafted wines,
innovative food provided by a gracious staff,
plus as much education on wine tasting and wine
train history as you desire. (B,L)
DAY 4: SAN FRANCISCO-MONTEREY
After breakfast we will travel on to Monterey
this morning. Our guide will take special
pleasure in showing you Cannery Row, the
waterfront street made famous by the John
Steinbeck novel depicting this lovely region and
the people who live there. Cannery Row was named
for the numerous sardine canning factories that
were located in this area. After your day of
exploration and adventure, we will have dinner
at the famous Bubba Gump’s. (B,D)
DAY 5: MONTEREY
This morning we head to a guaranteed highlight,
17 mile drive with views of Cypress Point. It is
one of the top 10 scenic drives in America, and
stops at famous Pebble Beach golf course and the
tenacious lone cypress. This afternoon we will
spend time at Carmel where you will have time to
enjoy its unique boutiques, cafes and charming
cottage homes, as well as sweeping views of the
Pacific. (B)
DAY 6: MONTEREY
Today we will visit the award winning Monterey
Bay Aquarium. Here you can explore the hidden
world of this spectacular ocean realm at the
heart of the nation’s largest marine sanctuary.
The exhibits re-create the bay’s habitats, from
shallow tide pools to the open ocean and deep
sea. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner at
a locally renowned restaurant. (B,D)
DAY 7: RETURN FLIGHT HOME
Our trip of the Cities by the Bay comes to a
close today. You will be transferred to the
airport for your return flight home. (B) |
