We cross the international dateline en route to Singapore. Upon arrival we will be transferred to our hotel for a good night’s rest. Singapore, the “Lion City” is a modern city on a lush, tropical island. This single island, only 255 square miles in size, is nevertheless, rich in history and culture. Colonized in 1819 by Sir Stamford Raffles, it has become one of the world’s largest ports. Its geography and thriving economy have attracted immigrants from every continent. Today its population of 2.7 million is the “melting pot” of the Orient - hosting a mixture of Chinese, Malaysians, Indians, Pakistanis, Singhalese, British and Americans. English is the preferred language linking each of these ethnic groups. Dinner tonight will be at our hotel. (Inflight meals,D)
