Detailed
Itinerary: |

DAY 1 & 2: DEPART USA
Once aboard our flight, we can relax, read,
watch the in-flight movie and enjoy
complimentary meals and beverage service. Once
we arrive in Zurich, we’ll meet our Tour Manager
and then transfer to Lucerne. In Lucerne, we’ll
check-in to our first-class hotel, where we’ll
be spending the next seven nights. We will have
a chance to settle in and unpack before enjoying
a special Welcome Dinner at the hotel with our
Tour Manager. (Inflight meals,D)
DAY 3: LUCERNE
We will tour our host city, Lucerne, which is
located in Central Switzerland on Lake Lucerne.
It is an important summer resort and plays host
to many types of festivals. Lucerne is also one
of leaders in Europe’s cereal-growing industry.
During our tour we’ll see the world-famous
Lion’s Monument. Spectacularly carved from
natural rock, this monument commemorates the
heroic death of Swiss mercenaries in 1792. We
will also see the Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church
and City Hall. Our afternoon is at leisure. (B)
DAY 4: LUCERNE
Today we have a choice of either having the
entire day to do some exploring on our own, or
join an optional tour to majestic Mt. Rigi. (B)
DAY 5: BERNE - GRINDELWALD - INTERLAKEN - BRIENZ
Our day begins in Switzerland’s capital city,
Berne, located on the Aare River. This city,
dating back to the middle ages, has been granted
world landmark status by the United Nations. We
will have time to see Berne’s famous bears, the
historic center of town and stroll through the
arcades to view the impressive clock tower.
Continue on through countryside dotted with old
Swiss Chalets and towns to Grindelwald, a
charming winter resort town in the Jungfrau
Mountains. Here we can relax, enjoy the scenery,
or have lunch. This afternoon, travel through
Interlaken, which is located between Lake Brienz
and Lake Thun, and lies at the foot of the world
famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau Peaks. Before
our return to Lucerne we will stop in Brienz, a
lakeside woodcarving center. (B,D)
DAY 6: LIECHTENSTEIN - AUSTRIA - SWITZERLAND
Today is our 3 Country Tour! We begin with a
drive through the rolling hills to Pfaffikon,
heading to the shore of Lake Walen and its
awesome backdrop of sheer mountain peaks. We
arrive in Vaduz, the capital city of
Liechtenstein, which is one of the smallest
nations in the world, located between Austria
and Switzerland. Here we will have time to
stroll down Main Street, do a bit of shopping or
take a picture of the castle towering above the
city. We then continue to western Austria and
the city of Feldkirch, where we will have
entrance to Schattenburg Castle Museum. Began in
1200, the castle gives us a glimpse into the
world of the early 16th century. Enjoy a typical
Austrian lunch before we depart. Continue to the
charming Swiss town of Appenzell before our
return to Lucerne for dinner at our hotel. (B,L,D)
DAY 7: LUCERNE
Today we have a chance to relax and enjoy
exploring on our own in Lucerne, or perhaps take
an optional tour to the Alsace, a very fertile
and culturally rich region in eastern France. (B,D)
DAY 8: ZURICH - BLACK FOREST - RHINE FALLS
We begin this morning with an orientation drive
around Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city and
the country’s commercial hub. Then we’ll visit the college town of Freiburg, Germany with
its open-air market and beautiful cathedral.
Following our visit to Freiburg, we’ll continue
to one of the most beautiful areas of southern
Germany, the Black Forest. It is a special place
with vast pine forests and beautiful scenery.
Visit Hofgutsternen and the Lake Titisee area
before continuing to the Rhine Falls. You should
make sure to have your camera ready for a great
photo opportunity of what many people call
Europe’s “Niagara Falls”. Tonight we’ll enjoy a
wonderful farewell dinner. (B,D)
DAY 9: LUCERNE - ZURICH - USA
We depart Lucerne for the last time as we travel
to Zurich where we board our flight headed home.
