Detailed
Itinerary: |

DAY 1: YOUR CITY - FAIRBANKS
Late arrival at the Fairbanks airport where we’ll be
met and escorted to our hotel for a welcome
reception and overnight. (Inflight Meals)
DAY 2: FAIRBANKS
Breakfast at leisure. This morning, we‘re off for a
sight-seeing tour of Fairbanks with a visit to the
El Dorado Gold Mine with an opportunity to strike it
rich as we pan for gold. Time for lunch on our own
in downtown Fairbanks before our afternoon cruise
aboard the stern wheeler Riverboat Discovery down
the Chena and Tanana Rivers. This evening we will
enjoy an "all you can eat" salmon bake with all the
trimmings. Return to our hotel for overnight. (B,D)
DAY 3: FAIRBANKS - DENALI
This morning, board the world famous Alaska Railroad
and enjoy breakfast on board as we head south to
Denali National Park. Imagine the possibility of
spotting a grizzly bear fishing for lunch while
you’re dining at a table complete with china and
Alaska flower arrangements. While you sit back and
relax, the onboard tour guides will provide you with
interesting bit of information about Alaska. Serving
Alaska since 1923, this is truely a once in a
lifetime mode of transportation. Our afternoon is
open for optional activities such as flightseeing
excursions, rafting, Park Services programs, or the
Denali Dinner Theater with plenty of singing,
dancing and great food. (B)
DAY 4: DENALI
After a leisurely breakfast at our hotel, we may
spend the morning relaxing before before heading off
on the Tundra Wildlife Tour. This afternoon's tour
of Denali National Park is a seven hour guided
excursion in search of moose, caribou, sheep and
grizzly bear. A box snack dinner is included. Return
to our hotel hotel this evening. (B,D)
DAY 5: DENALI - ANCHORAGE
Breakfast at leisure. This morning we board our
deluxe motorcoach for the drive to Anchorage, with a
number of photo stops, including a last chance to
glimpse Mt. McKinley & the Iditarod Sled Dog
Headquarters. Lunch is on our own at an Alaskan
roadhouse lodge; today is sure to be a highlight.
Upon arrival in Anchorage we transfer to our hotel
for the overnight. (B)
DAY 6: ANCHORAGE - SEWARD - BOARD CRUISE VESSEL
Breakfast at leisure. This morning, enjoy a
sightseeing tour of Anchorage, and continue south to
the port community of Seward, where we will visit
the Alaska SeaLife Center, a world-class marine
research and rehabilitation facility. Later that day
we board Celebrity’s "Summit" and begin an
unforgettable week of cruising. (B,D)
DAY 7: HUBBARD GLACIER
The “Galloping Glacier” made history in 1986 when it
surged forward at the rate of up to 130 feet a day,
blocking off Russell Fjord. The ice dam was
eventurally broken, but Hubbard Glacier continues to
surge forward, calving icebergs into the water. Keep
your binoculars handy as you cruise through the
glacier’s home waters, the wildlife-rich Yakutat
Bay. (B,L,D)
DAY 8: JUNEAU
Farther up the coast, visit Alaska's capital and the
gateway to Glacier Bay, Juneau. This quaint city is
nestled between towering Mt. Juneau and Gastineau
Channel. The city combines the modern architecture
of high-rise buildings with the renovated structures
of the Gold Rush Historic District. (B,L,D)
DAY 9: SKAGWAY
Remember the days of 1898, when 20,000 prospectors
passed through town in search of Klondike gold. The
era's history has been carefully preserved in
Skagway's storefronts and on the 33-mile Chilkoot
Trail. Shop for gold-nugget jewelry and bring home a
treasure. (B,L,D)
DAY 10: SITKA
Experience an interesting part of history in the
city that was once the capital of Russian America.
The town's czarist heritage is preserved in the
onion-domed St. Michael's Cathedral and the popular
matruchka nesting dolls. View Alaskan native
artifacts at Sheldon Jackson Museum or the totem
poles and cultural center at Sitka National
Historical Park. (B,L,D)
DAY 11: KETCHIKAN
Continuing north, we pause at picturesque Ketchikan,
where the harbor shelters fishing boats and
seaplanes. At Totem Bight State Park, walk through
the forest to a replica of a Tlingit Indian village.
Visit Totem Heritage Cultural Center, home to
Alaska's largest collection of original totems. (B,L,D)
DAY 12: CRUISE INSIDE PASSAGE
For a whole day, you cruise this enchanted waterway,
and each vista surpasses the one before. Your ship
threads her sure course past forests, islands and
inlets, surrounded by silence. You glimpse a deep
fjord penetrating the wilderness. To the east the
sun glints on snowcapped peaks. An incredible
voyage. (B,L,D)
DAY 13: VANCOUVER, B.C.
Disembark & transfer to a coach for a City Tour of
Vancouver, BC, then off to Seattle, to board our
flight. (B, Inflight meals) |
